What's The Big Deal?: Trash The Dress Edition

This week's "What's The Big Deal" post is surrounded around the new wedding craze "Trash The Dress" shoots. Don't know what a Trash The Dress session is?? Don't worry Eccentric Bride is here to fill you in and trust me, you'll be glad that I did.

Picture a beautiful bride, dressed in her stunning wedding dress; make up is flawless and that "I just got married" aura is still present. The beautiful pacific ocean in the background sets the perfect scene for her day after wedding shoot. With everything just right she twirls around as the photographer's camera clicks away snapping numerous shots of her. Slowly making her way into the beach water she turns to face the photographer then falls backwards without a care in the world, completely destroying her hair, makeup and most importantly her wedding dress.

With her mascara now running down her once blushed cheeks, the photographer steadily snaps away making sure to capture the black stain that has formed on the breast of her once gorgeous dress.

The question is not why would someone do this to their sacred wedding dress...the question is WHY THE HELL NOT?!?!

It's called a "Trash The Dress" photo shoot and I was in love the first time I saw pictures from one. It's the latest trend in wedding photography that takes place anywhere from days to years (for those that want to cherish their dress a tad bit longer) after the wedding ceremony. Usually it's just the bride but in some cases the groom joins her for the creative festivities.

You can't get more eccentric than a Trash The Dress session. It's about self expression, spontaneity, standing out and doing the unthinkable. Some may disagree and say its a waste of money but a wedding is a one day event (in most cases) and after that all you have left are memories and photos. So why not make the most of it and have memories that you will never forget?

If you are a soon to be bride or newlywed and can't figure out just what to do for your own Trash The Dress shoot, I hope this post inspires you. The photos below are just a few examples of all the crazy adrenaline-rushing things you can do.
